Becki Newton

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton grew up within Guilford, Connecticut. She is of English and Czech descent and began performing shows and musicals at local theaters. She then was a student at the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with an B.A. In European History. Newton became a member of his fellow members of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Penn. After graduating, Newton then moved to New York City and landed various roles on television in commercials of companies such as and the Olive Garden. Newton performed the role of Amanda Tanen on the comedy-drama Ugly Betty series from 2006 through 2010. Newton as well as co-star Michael Urie co-hosted The Official Ugly Betty Blog. She also appeared on ABC.com ?Ts Mode After Hours Webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010. It was after four consecutive seasons that were successful, which allowed the show to get an appropriate series conclusion. Newton performed at NewYork City Center's Encores in late 2009. Jerry Zaks directed the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy. Newton was the character Molly Gray and performed opposite her husband, real life Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton appeared in Love Bites. The hour-long romantic comedy was conceived by the executive producer Cindy Chupack, who worked for Sex and the City. NBC announced the continuation of the show in the month of May 2010.However it was cancelled after Newton announcement of her baby, co-star Jordana Spiro was contractually bound to stay with her other program My Boys (which ended up being later cancelled) and Chupack's desire to exit the show Love Bites was pushed back to midseason.
